About Me

In 1993, I made a decision to attend college on the West Coast, at what is now Cal Poly Humboldt State University . Graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Social Work and a minor in Child Development. This program introduced me to the breadth of community work I was instantly drawn to. I began volunteering in Domestic Violence services, becoming an advocate for non English speakers and their right for proper language interpreters, sitting on a Board of Directors, reviewing health grants, all while I nursed my children during a span of several years. As part of my social work internship, I had a valuable experience in counseling and leading groups while in an Outpatient Substance Abuse treatment program through a large hospital system. My professional trajectory led me to home visiting families with Head Start, becoming a Childbirth Educator and Doula with Paso a Paso where I served non English speakers during the perinatal period. Later expanding my role as an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) in 2009 and in 2017 earned my license as a Registered Nurse.

My experience working in Women's Health, Social Justice, and then a Labor and Delivery Nurse have been a perfect fit as a first generation American. I currently spend my time as a hospital RN and in private practice, supporting families during a pivotal moment in life. I have profound respect for a woman’s pregnancy and birth experience, and the importance of connection and support during this time.

Giving birth to my children, each in a hospital and at home, has been one of my most greatest life changing experiences shaping who I am and how I do this work. My Motherhood journey has taught me that there is not one way to parent or raise a family. I believe each family finds what is true for them when we take the time to listen.

I have been working in private practice as a Lactation Consultant since 2009, how I practice has bloomed over the years, with a holistic slant that includes Infant Massage and Craniosacral Therapy for newborns and soon for pregnant folks. I have found deeper meaning in my work as I carry the importance of physical and mental health while teaching families about the incredible beings babies are. I split my time between Humboldt County visiting my grandchildren and the East Bay of Northern California, while working in a large hospital system.

Guidance in the early days with a new baby is where you’ll find me in my element. I look forward to supporting you and your family in ways that bring you ease.
